So You've Got A Conservatory

It's a very exciting time when you have a new conservatory built, or move into a home with a conservatory for the first time. But quite often people are unsure about how to use the space to make the most of it, so we're here to help.

Conservatories used to be rooms that were only used in the summer, as garden rooms, so if you have inherited a conservatory that's been around for a few years, first of all check that the room is heated - you will want to make good use of it all year round if you can.

Decide what you want to use the room for - it doesn't have to just be a room for sitting among plants! There are lots of possible uses for your conservatory:

Dining Area
Lots of people use their conservatory as their main dining area in the home. This is a good idea as it will often have a lovely outlook onto the garden and easy access to a patio or decked area outside. We feature some gorgeous conservatory dining sets here, so take a look to get some ideas.

Children's Playroom
If you have young children, you will want to keep an eye on them while you are busy, so turning your conservatory into a playroom, at least for part of the day, is an option for you. If this is your plan, think about storage for toys, so that when the little ones are in bed, you can use the conservatory for a well-deserved glass of wine or a refreshing cuppa!

Study/work room
Think about turning at least a part of your conservatory into a study/work area. A home for the computer in a family room is a good idea if you have children that need internet access to complete their homework, as you can monitor their online activities. This is also a great idea if a member of your family works from home - but do think about where all the accompanying paperwork will be stored.

Reception room
Many people use their conservatory as an extra reception room. This is ideal if you have a large family or a small lounge. We have some fabulous conservatory furniture sets which would look amazing for this purpose.

Garden room
The more traditional use of a conservatory; fill your room with comfortable seating, ambient lighting and some lovely plants, and enjoy quiet relaxation.

Of course many people use their conservatory for more than one function - so think about how yours can best help with your lifestyle and family needs. Whatever you plan to use your conservatory for - we are sure we have some wonderful furniture to fit the bill.
